This course aims to provide the knowledge to safely operate and maintain pedestrian mowers with confidence. This is a hands-on course that includes both health and safety and practical elements which supply sufficient training to meet legal requirements.
By the end of the course, you’ll be able to:
• Identify the risks associated with the use of different types of pedestrian mowers.
• Select appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Identify the controls and components.
• Carry out daily checks as indicated in the operator’s manual.
• Carry out pre-start checks.
• Identify and report any faults.
• Adjust the cutting mechanism to achieve the required standard.
• Operate the machine in a safe and competent manner.
• Perform after-use maintenance.
• Load and transport the machine (if appropriate).
Anyone with an interest or employment in arboriculture, horticulture, landscaping, and grounds maintenance who may be required to operate a pedestrian mower.
You do not need any pre-requisites to attend this course. However, please note that due to the nature of the training a minimum level of fitness will be required for specific operations. Whilst we would not want to disadvantage you as a learner, it is an essential requirement.

Upon completion of this course, delegates will receive a LANTRA accredited certificate that does not expire. However, it is advised and is business best practice that delegates attend a refresher course every 5 years.
