This course is intended to assess and recognise the skills, knowledge and experience required to supervise lifting operations.
We aim to help delegates achieve the NVQ Level 4 Diploma in Controlling Lifting Operations - Crane Supervisor, providing evidence of competence to support an application for a CPCS or NPORS Competent Operator Card.

- Introduction to the qualification, usually taking place at an external centre – this will include explanations of the 8 mandatory units, paperwork for sign-up and registering with the awarding body.
- Delegates will be provided with Knowledge Packs that they may complete in their own time; identifying the delegate’s current knowledge and skill set.
- Following Completion of the Knowledge Packs, the Practical Observation will begin. This will be on the learner’s site, and may include visits from your assessor who will observe you working and offer support. Delegates may also be asked to record observations on camera for review by the assessor, on practical elements such as pre-shift and operation checks on the machinery.
- There will then be a collection of Witness Testimonies (from site Supervisor’s / Manager’s etc.) and Additional Evidence by the assessor.
- Finally, a one-to-one Professional Discussion will take place between the assessor and the delegate.
Those who are working in a role which requires them to supervise crane lifting operations, ideally having access to undertake the NVQ on their own site.
This is suited to those individuals who do not want time away from their job / workplace.

Once the required assessment standards have been met, the delegate's portfolio will undergo internal quality assurance (IQA).
On successful completion, delegates will receive their NVQ qualification, which can be used to support an application for a CPCS or NPORS Competent Operator Card, subject to meeting the relevant scheme requirements.
