  • Introduction to the qualification, usually taking place at an external centre – this will include paperwork for sign-up and registering with the awarding body.
  • Delegates will be provided with Knowledge Packs that they may complete in their own time; identifying the delegate’s current knowledge and skill set.
  • Following Completion of the Knowledge Packs, the Practical Observation will begin. This will be on the learner’s site, and may include visits from your assessor who will observe you working and offer support. Delegates may also be asked to record observations on camera for review by the assessor, on practical elements such as pre-shift and operation checks on the machinery.
  • There will then be a collection of Witness Testimonies (from site Supervisor’s / Manager’s etc.) and Additional Evidence by the assessor.
  • Finally, a one-to-one Professional Discussion will take place between the assessor and the delegate.

Pathway 1 Roof and Wall Sheeting and Cladding-pathway (Mandatory)

  • K/508/0364 Preparing resources for the installation of sheeting and cladding materials on roofs and walls in the workplace
  • M/508/0365 Installing sheeting and cladding systems on roofs and walls in the workplace
  • T/508/0366 Installing sheeting and cladding rainwater goods in the workplace
  • D/508/0457 Installing sheeting and cladding systems to curved and complex roof and wall formations in the workplace

Optional units for pathway 1 (1 Unit Required)

  • M/508/0446 Refurbishing sheeting and cladding on roofs, walls or rainscreen systems in the workplace
  • Y/508/0442 Repairing sheeting and cladding systems on roofs and walls, including rainscreen, in the workplace
  • K/508/0445 Installing solar collectors to roofs in the workplace

  • M/508/0446 Refurbishing sheeting and cladding on roofs, walls or rainscreen systems in the workplace
  • Y/508/0442 Repairing sheeting and cladding systems on roofs and walls, including rainscreen, in the workplace
  • F/508/0368 Preparing and operating ergonomic manipulating machines to lift and transfer loads in the workplace
  • D/508/0443 Preparing and operating boom-type mobile elevating work platforms (MEWP) in the workplace
  • T/508/0397 Slinging and hand signalling the movement of suspended loads in the workplace
  • L/507/9756 Setting out secondary dimensional work control in the workplace

The NVQ: Level 3 – Diploma in Cladding Occupations qualification is aimed at those who are involved in installing Rainscreen wall cladding systems and/or roof sheeting and cladding systems that involve curved and complex roof and wall formations in the workplace, working from drawings and specifications.

It is not expected that delegates working in this industry all do the same activities or use the same equipment and machinery so the qualification has been developed to make it as widely available as possible by having 2 distinct pathways.


After Assessment, the assessor will cross-match all evidence collected with the awarding body standards and sign-off the delegate, if all standards have been met.

IQA will quality check the delegate’s portfolio.

Completion of this NVQ Level 3 – Diploma in Cladding Occupations will allow you to apply for a Gold CSCS Trade card.
