The IEMA Pathways to Net Zero course gives clear, consistent guidance on best practice on response to the climate crisis. The course aims to provide supervisors and leaders with a strategic and operational overview of environmental sustainability as it affects their specific industry.
- Module 1: Why Net Zero? The module explains net zero and outlines the urgency of the underlying climate science driving net zero agenda. The element also covers UK and International policy.
- Module 2: Responding to Net Zero: Showcasing the risks and opportunities of net zero including future business viability, reputation and supply chain vulnerabilities. The element also looks at internal capacity for delivering net zero.
- Module 3: Greenhouse gas accounting: The element explains how to establish a greenhouse gas inventory as well as the main principles of greenhouse gas accounting (including using activity data and emission factors.
- Module 4: Carbon Neutrality: The element explains what carbon neutral means and its application for organisations, products and services.
- Module 5: Net Zero Methodologies: The element explains how to establish science-based targets and how to establish a net zero strategy.
- Module 6: Developing a decarbonisation plan: Implement a decarbonisation plan with suitable targets and milestones to deliver net zero objective.
- Module 7: Net zero across the value chain: The element explains how to reduce greenhouse emissions where these are influenced but not directly controlled change.
- Module 8: Communicating net zero: The element explains how to communicate externally about responses to the climate crisis, net zero and making robust green claims.
This course is ideally suited for supervisors and managers across all sectors and has no formal entry requirements. However, it is strongly preferred that the delegate is in a practicing role that will allow them to deeply understand the areas explored over the duration of the course.
Delegates successfully completing the course will receive an IEMA-Approved Certificate.
