Content: The course (Module 1 and 2) offers a comprehensive review of all key health hazards on construction sites, together with appropriate controls, and will cover:
- Health risks on construction sites
- Risk assessments
- Chemical hazards
- Physical hazards
- Ergonomic hazards
- Principles of control
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
At the end of the taught course, candidates will:
- Understand the importance of controlling health risks on construction sites
- Understand the role that occupational hygiene plays in managing these risks
- Be able to identify health risks and their potential significance for common construction work processes
- Be able to identify chemical-based hazardous substances by using the information on labels and safety data sheets.
- Be able to identify appropriate control options for common constructions work processes
- Be able to identify where expert help is needed.
There is a text at the end of the one day taught course, and those who pass the course will receive the Certificate in Controlling Health Risks on Construction Sites.
You will be required to show a form of photo ID at the training venue to validate your attendance. Please ensure you have either (1) your passport or (2) your photo card driving licence present when registering on the day. Failure to confirm your identify to the trainer with photo ID will mean you will not be able to undertake the training and will be turned away. If you have any doubts about the photo ID requirements please check with the HSS admin team.
Please note: There are no educational entry requirements, but students are strongly recommended to complete the online pre-reading module (Module 1) before attending Module 2 which is a one-day classroom-based course.
