The LANTA Brushcutters/Trimmers course is a practical operator training course aimed at delegates who need to use brushcutters and trimmers safely in work environments such as:
- Agriculture
- Horticulture
- Landscaping
- Grounds maintenance
- Forestry
- Estate management
The course aims to help delegates recognise and reduce the risks associated with operating this equipment by promoting safe working practices, an understanding of relevant health and safety requirements, the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and routine maintenance to support the safe and effective use of equipment.
This course is run across on day and consists of both theory and practical elements:
• Risk assessment and emergency procedures.
• Health and safety guidelines and legislation.
• Personal protective equipment.
• Pre-use checks and machine safety features.
• Routine checks and maintenance.
• Cutter maintenance.
• Start the machine and carry out safety checks.
• Preparation of site, machine, and materials.
• Operation of stump grinder.
• Unblocking stump grinder.
• Re-instatement of excavation and disposal of arisings.
• Clearing, transport, and storage Carry out basic operations using tractor mounted loader.
This course is suitable for anybody working or looking for work in arboriculture, forestry, horticulture, landscaping, or grounds maintenance industries.
Due to the nature of the training a minimum level of fitness will be required for specific operations. Whilst we would not want to disadvantage you as a learner, it is an essential requirement.

Upon completion of this course, delegates will receive a LANTRA accredited certificate that does not expire. However, it is advised and is business best practice that delegates attend a refresher course every 5 years.
