    CPR, managing bleeding, head injuries, bone, muscle and joint injuries, shock, chest pains, communication and casualty care, and responding to unresponsive casualties.

    Anyone involved in sporting activities who may need to respond to an injury or medical emergency. This can include coaches, referees, players, volunteers and those supporting sports clubs or teams.

    Q6. Do I need any previous first aid experience? 
    No previous first aid experience is required. The course is suitable for delegates who are new to sports first aid as well as those looking to refresh their knowledge.

    There are no formal entry requirements. However delegates should have a basic understanding of written and spoken English. If you require additional support, please contact us before booking to discuss your requirements.

    How the Training Works 

    Q8. Is this course classroom-based or practical? 
    This is a face-to-face course delivered by one of our experienced trainers. It combines theory with practical first aid activities to help delegates develop skills that can be applied during sporting activities.

    Q9. Is lunch provided during the course?
    Lunch is not provided so delegates are advised to bring their own lunch or make use of nearby facilities. Training centres are equipped with a kettle, microwave and fridge if needed.

    Q10. What should I bring on the day? 
    We recommend wearing comfortable clothing suitable for the course. If your training is taking place at one of our live operational venues, personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required. Please contact us before attending to confirm any PPE requirements for your chosen venue.

    Q11. Is there parking available at the training centre? 
    Most of our training venues offer free on-site parking, although spaces may be limited. You’ll receive full parking details, including What3Words navigation, once your booking is confirmed.     Assessments & Certification

    Assessment is carried out through continuous observation by the trainer throughout the course.

    Successful delegates receive a St John Ambulance certificate on completion of the course.

    Q14. How long is the certificate valid? 
    The St John Ambulance Basic Sports First Aid certificate is valid for three years. Refresher training is recommended before the certificate expires to help keep knowledge and skills up to date.
