The course is aimed at experienced gas operatives who wish to carry out tightness testing and direct purging of commercial/industrial installation pipework where the volume exceeds 1m³.
It covers the skills and knowledge required to ensure pipework is safe and compliant, including leak-testing and purging procedures, before commissioning or re-commissioning gas installations.
Core topics and modules covered include:
- Tightness testing (soundness testing) of installation pipework.
- Direct purging of installation pipework.
- Volume calculations and assessments of pipework (to verify > 1 m³ volume).
- Risk assessment and safety procedures for high-pressure installations (natural gas up to 16 bar, LPG up to 2 bar).
- Practical exercises and assessments to verify compliance in testing and purging.
The course is aimed at experienced gas operatives working in or moving into the commercial/industrial gas sector, especially those dealing with large-volume pipework installations.
Entry Prerequisite:
Delegates must already hold a core or changeover commercial gas safety qualification to attend this course, such as:
- COCN1 (Core Commercial Gas Safety)
- CODNCO1 (Changeover Domestic to Commercial Gas Safety)
- Or equivalent core catering/LPG or domestic-to-commercial gas safety certification.
Pre-Course Reading:
Delegates are strongly recommended to acquire a recognised Gas Safety Training Manual beforehand.
On successful completion, delegates receive certification in TPCP1, authorising them to perform tightness testing and purging of commercial/industrial pipework > 1 m³ in volume (natural gas up to 16 bar, LPG up to 2 bar).
As with other ACS gas safety modules, certification requires periodic renewal to remain valid.
