Steps and Stools - Ladder Association

To provide delegates with the knowledge to assess and determine when it's appropriate to use stepladders and step stools, correctly locate and safely use stepladders and step stools and visually inspect for damage before and after use.

Ladder Association courses are recognised by The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) as the leading safety training when working with Ladders. For further information please download ‘LA455 Safe Use of Ladders and Stepladders – a brief guide’ which is the new guidance jointly produced by the Ladder Association and the HSE.

Ladder Association theory assessments are now ‘open book’ allowing delegates to refer to electronic or printed course materials as well as their own notes during their assessment.

Operatives and supervisors who are infrequent users of stepladders and step stools in shops, offices, schools and the health sector.

A Ladder Association certificate and Ladder Card will be issued to successful delegates who complete the theory and practical assessment sessions at the level they attend the course which has a five year validity period.
