The aim of this course is to provide the knowledge and understanding of how to install and maintain a variety of heat pump systems. This course provides the skills and knowledge to be able to determine the most appropriate heat pump for an installation and, through consultation with the client about their needs and demands, install any of the common ground source or air source heat pump types in a safe and efficient manner. The course is assessed via both practical and theory examinations.
This course will consist of both practical and theoretical training in the below areas:
- Know the requirements to install, commission and handover air source heat pump systems pump systems
- Install, commission and handover air source heat pump systems
- Know the requirements to inspect, service and maintain air source heat pump systems
- Inspect, service and maintain air source heat pump systems
The course is aimed at delegates with experience (5 years or more) in plumbing or conventional heating engineering, an NVQ Level 3 in plumbing, heating engineering or equivalent. It is also open to those in the process of gaining these qualifications.
Pre-requisites
Delegates attending this course must hold the below pre-requirements before attending the course:
- N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence; or
- N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Heating and Ventilating (Domestic Installation) or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence; or
- N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Heating and Ventilating (Industrial and Commercial Installation) or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence; or
- N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Oil-Fired Technical Services or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence; or
- N/SVQ Level 2/3 in Gas Installation and Maintenance or equivalent earlier certification that provides evidence of competence. or
- Heating installers with minimum 3 years of experience installing wet central heating systems, evidenced either by manufacturer courses certification or Gas Safe Register, OFTEC, MCS or HETAS registration.
- In addition, if not included in the above certification in relation to:
- WRAS Water Regulations/Water Byelaws or equivalent
