Pre-Requisites
No prior
experience is required to undertake the Fundamentals in Fire Detection &
Alarm Systems course; however it would be beneficial to delegates to have
existing knowledge of fire detection and alarm systems, or of BS 5839-1.
Aims
The aim of this 4-day combined course is to provide delegates with a concise and focused introduction to the Fire Detection & Alarms sector and the guidance and recommendations detailed within BS 5839-1: 2017.
Delegates will be taken through the requirements of BS 5839-1 to provide an understanding of the following:
Unit 1 (2 Days)
• The general requirements• The design considerations
• The requirements in relation to the responsibility for the limitation of false and unwanted alarms
Unit 2 (2 Days)
• The installation requirements• The commissioning requirements
• The maintenance requirements
• The user responsibilities and requirements
• The annexes of BS 5839-1
This course is aimed at electricians, designers, installers, commissioners, maintainers, technicians, electrical supervisors, and facilities management looking to achieve the FIA AO Level 3 Fundamentals of Fire Detection and Alarm Systems in Non-Domestic Premises qualification.
