Face to Face Live Training
In a classroom environment consisting of:
- Instructor led training
- Individual and group activities:
- Fire escape plan
Concluding with post theory test consisting of 20 multiple choice questions. 80% pass mark.
Award
On successful completion of this course, delegates are issued with a certificate accredited by City & Guilds valid for three years. They then need to undertake a further course to obtain another three-year certificate.
Duration
Minimum contact time: 1 day, lasting a minimum of 7 hours.
Aim
This qualification will benefit those who wish to have a foundation of general fire safety and an understanding of Health & Safety legislation in the workplace or those who wish to undertake more specific fire safety roles.
It provides an understanding of the direct and indirect hazards associated with fire both domestically and non-domestically and what to do in the event of a fire emergency.

Prerequisites:
No formal qualifications or experience are necessary.
On the day:
Failure to arrive before the specified course start time may result in delegates being refused entry, if you are going to be late on the day please call us as soon as possible on 0345 766 7799.
Please note we are unable to refund the cost of a course which is missed due to absence or lateness. Please ensure that you arrive at least 15 minutes before the course to avoid disappointment.
All delegates must bring photographic identification to the course, such as a passport, driving licence, or work ID. You will not be permitted to sit your exam without photographic proof of ID. If you have any concerns or queries, please contact us before your course.
The delegate must have a good understanding of spoken and written English. Any problems with literacy or language comprehension should be declared at least 24 hours prior to the course.
This need not preclude attendance to the course, provisions can be arranged provided we can assess the delegates' needs. These will need to be authorised prior to the course by the accreditation.
Delegates are required to bring:
A hi-vis vest / jacket for courses taking place at an HSS location.
PPE can be purchased from HSS Training.
Additional Safeguarding Measures
Our number one priority is the safety of HSS colleagues and customers. As a responsible training provider, we have introduced additional measures to stop the spread of COVID-19.
You will be asked to wear PPE appropriate for your course, which will now include Facemask and Gloves.
You may bring your own suitable PPE. Face masks and gloves are available to order online and will also be available to purchase on arrival at your training event.
NOTE: Wearing a suitable face mask and gloves is a mandatory requirement whilst in attendance at an HSS facility or during an onsite training event.

Failure Procedure
Delegates who don't achieve the minimum theoretical and/or practical assessment requirements will have the opportunity to resit these on another day.
