The aim of this course is to provide delegates with the knowledge and practical skills to safely assemble, alter and dismantle basic scaffold structures as approved by CISRS.
NOTE: It is a condition of the CISRS scheme that ALL delegates complete a pre-registration checklist indicating your experience in scaffolding. Upon receipt of your booking enquiry we will contact you with a checklist which we require to be completed and returned for onwards processing with CISRS. Until we have confirmation from the training centre of your suitability any booking made SHOULD NOT be treated as confirmed.

This course covers the following topics:
- Statutory regulations and Codes of Practice
- Safe handling and inspection of materials
- Safe use and inspection of safety harnesses
- Ropes and knots
- Types and uses of tube, fittings and boards
- Assessing material requirements for basic scaffolds
- Safe ladder access
- Interpretation of simple drawings
- Erect and dismantle basic scaffolds
- Independent (with return)
- Putlog (with return) – tube & fitting only
- Tower
- Birdcage
- Health & safety awareness
- Manual handling
- Product familiarisation – system scaffold or system tube & fitting
- Alterations to scaffolds
This course is aimed at delegates who must have a minimum of 6 months practical experience of scaffolding operations. You must have held a CISRS Labourer card or a CISRS Trainee Scaffolder card for at least six months prior to joining the course.
All applicants must hold a valid HS&E Test taken in the last 2 years prior to attending the course.
CISRS do accept some other industry recognised Health and Safety qualifications as an exemption to the HS&E test. Those listed below must be completed within 2 years of the date of application.
Acceptable Alternatives
- Completion of CISRS Recognised Scaffolding Apprenticeship Induction (Initial Trainee card only)
- IOSH Working Safely/IOSH Managing Safely/IOSH Directing Safely
- FAS Safe Pass
- Current CCNSG Safety Passport Supervisory (SCATS Card)
- NEBOSH Construction Certificates (taken within 2 years of application)
- SMSTS (taken within 2 years of application)
- SSSTS (taken within 2 years of application)
- Current CCNSG Leading a Team Safely (SCATS)
- Current MIST/BOSIET/OPITO Approved Offshore Certificate
Evidence of the above must be submitted at the time of course booking.
Failure to provide the evidence required will result in the booking being cancelled.
