Course Entry Criteria
A qualified engineer will be carrying out Qualitative Face Fit Testing at your location. The masks to be tested in the first instance are those supplied by yourselves and that you use daily however we shall bring a number of other models in the event of failures. Please note that Face Fit testing is mask (make and model) specific and an operative is at risk if he/she uses any other type of mask without being retested.
In order for the testing to run smoothly and to avoid any undue charges please accommodate for the following:
- Please allow 20 minute intervals for each Fit Testing appointment.
- Provide a relatively large well ventilated room to enable us to carry out the testing in accordance with the HSE OC282-28 Guidance Document.
- Please ensure there is a supply of drinking water and receptacle for waste water.
- Please bring ear defenders or eye protection usually worn by the operative as these will be worn during the test.
- The operative must not eat or drink 15 minutes prior to the test. This includes chewing gum and smoking but does not include plain water.
- Please ensure operatives are clean shaven prior to testing. This is a legal requirement under CoSHH and could result in an abortive test.
NB: The operator should be encouraged to be clean shaven when wearing Tight Fitting Respiratory Protection during their daily duties.
