This course is split into two modules Digital Tachograph and Driver Hours and Road Transport Regulations.
The ‘Digital Tachograph’ module is designed to give drivers an understanding of the management, legal, and operational aspects of the digital tachograph.
The ‘Driver Hours and Road Transport Regulations’ module will provide delegates with the working knowledge and requirements of this legislation that will help to ensure they are compliant and safe within the workplace.
This course contains two modules and includes the following topics:
Digital Tachograph:
- Why the digital tachograph was introduced
- The vehicle unit (VU), mode selection, and on-screen messages
- Time management and logging on and off
- Manual entries and mixed tachograph operation
- Video and simulator exercises
- Tachograph cards (including lost, stolen, damaged, and malfunctioning cards)
Driver Hours and Road Transport Regulations:
- Introduction to Drivers’ Hours
- The legal framework
- EC Regulation 561/2006 (EU Drivers’ Hours)
- Road Transport (Working Time) Regulations 2005
- UK Domestic Rules 1968
- Exercises to verify the driver’s knowledge
This course is aimed at those looking to obtain their Driver Qualification Card (DQC). This course will count 7 hours towards your mandatory 35 learning hours that you require for the DQC. This course is suitable for those who hold a HGV license.

Upon successful completion of this course, delegates will be presented with a printable certificate of competence that will last 5 years. To obtain your Driver Qualification Card (DQC), you must complete 35 hours worth of driver CPC modules.
Once you have completed all 35 hours of CPC modules, DVLA will issue your card automatically.
